Job Overview
We are seeking a Manager, State & Higher Education Sales to join the Southwest Business team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading strategic sales initiatives and developing partnerships with state, local, and higher education (SLED) managed travel accounts. This position plays a pivotal role in expanding Southwest Airlines' presence in the corporate travel sector.
As a manager, you’ll oversee a team of Field Government Account Managers and manage a designated portfolio. This position involves shaping strategy, building relationships, and ensuring Southwest Airlines continues to grow as a trusted partner for SLED travel programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and expand awareness of Southwest Airlines’ corporate travel programs within SLED markets.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop a team of sales professionals, empowering them to succeed in the managed travel industry.
- Relationship Building: Establish and maintain formal partnerships with state, local, and higher education organizations to drive revenue and customer loyalty.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee account portfolios, ensuring growth and alignment with Southwest Airlines’ business goals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of SLED customers.
- Representation: Represent Southwest Airlines at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote our vision and values.
- Travel: Travel as needed for training, meetings, conferences, and relationship-building opportunities.
Qualifications
- Citizenship/Work Authorization: U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required. (No sponsorship for current or future work authorization is available.)
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading sales teams and managing accounts in a corporate or government-focused sales environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with managed travel programs and corporate travel markets, particularly within the state, local, and higher education sectors.
- Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Remote Work: Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, managing tasks and relationships independently.
