Senior Loss Control Specialist

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Loss Control Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide expert risk management solutions and loss control services to current and prospective policyholders. Your primary responsibility will be to identify potential hazards and risks within workplace environments, assess safety protocols, and implement effective strategies to minimize accidents and injuries, thereby mitigating subsequent workers' compensation claims.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage an assigned book of business within a designated territory, ensuring service plans are in place, surveys and resurveys are completed, high-risk accounts are identified, and underwriting is kept informed of progress and changes.
  • Schedule and conduct onsite visits to evaluate workplace environments, identify risks, and produce thorough documentation of findings with supporting recommendations.
  • Monitor policyholder loss activity and develop strategies for loss reduction.
  • Apply technical knowledge to assist policyholders in identifying key objectives to improve safety and loss control at the workplace. Provide consultative and training services to support the account’s risk mitigation objectives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and training resource for internal business partners and external customers in occupational safety and loss prevention. Conduct onsite training as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional designations and certifications as required by regulatory bodies for assigned territories.
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and perform special assignments and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health & Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Certifications such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OHST), Associate of Risk Management (ARM), or similar are preferred.
  • Minimum of three years providing loss control or occupation-related safety services, preferably with a workers’ compensation carrier.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and auditing safety management systems for organizations.
  • Thorough understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) Regulations and standards; relevant industry legal and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrable ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management strategies for common loss sources.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting – demonstrable ability to collect, analyze, and interpret safety data to identify trends, track progress, and provide meaningful reports to clients and stakeholders.
  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing.
